Septumm                                          2 months

Tongue, Eyebrow, Lip           2-3 months

Lobes                                             2-6 months

Bridge, Surface & Navel     6-9 months

Nipple                               6months – 1 year

Cartilage & Nostril                         1 year +

PIERCING AFTERCARE



HOW TO HELP YOUR PIERCING HEAL

KEEPING CLEAN AND DRY IS KEY!

1.   Always wash your hands first before working with your piercing.

2.   Rinse front & back with sterile saline piercing solution such as Neilmed twice a day.

3.   Dry using a hairdryer on a cool setting or VERY carefully with a clean cotton bud.

4.   Clean twice a day for no longer than a month.

5.   When showering always rinse over piercing with the shower head to remove soap, shampoos, etc. 

6.   When sleeping use a piercing pillow if possible, if not rolled up clean towels or a travel pillow for the neck can be used.  Ask a member of         staff for advice


THINGS NOT TO DO

  • DO NOT touch piercing unless necessary and always make sure your hands are clean.
  • DO NOT turn or twist your piercing.
  • DO NOT put cosmetics near it.  Examples are Cosmetics, perfume dry shampoo, hairspray, perfume etc.
  • DO NOT go swimming in the sea, pool or use saunas, sunbeds or steam rooms for 2 weeks.
  • DO NOT USE homemade salt solution, surgical spirits etc.  Only use solution made for piercings. 

          Work with the piercing not against it for best results.

  • DO NOT ignore signs of infection or irritation (swelling, pain, redness, excessive weeping) in the first few days of getting your piercing it will be swollen, red and warm but it should not be extreme.  Contact us if you are concerned.


DOWNSIZING

Your piercing will need downsized after approximately 3 – 4 weeks.  This means we will replace the bar with a shorter one.  As initially piercings are down with a longer bar to accommodate any swelling and make cleaning easier.

You can book in to do this if you think your piercing is ready.  This is when there is space between the car and where it enters your body, no more swelling and crusting.

Always leave jewellery in a piercing, even healed piercings that you have had can shrink and close in minutes if removed.  This causes reinsertion very difficult.
